Mother's Day

Here are the cards I made for my mum and mother-in-law.

I have my Promarkers now so am very excited!!

I clearly need to practice my photo-taking...

Looking at these pictures, I realise that the sentiments don't look quite right. Next time I will stamp on to contrasting card and cut out. They look better up close, promise!!

Can I enter the green card into the MSE Spring Challenge?

Thanks

King of the Road

It's a colleague's birthday on Wednesday so I thought I would give my first birthday card for a male a shot.

He passed his driving test only about a year ago and we often tease him about his motoring skills so I thought that this would be a fitting card:

The fonts are from a collection of letting stamps I have, stamped in bronze and embossed with clear powder.
The sticker was free with a cardmaking magazine this month.
The red card was from my stash and the checked paper was also free in a magazine

Wedding Invitations: Making Progress

Today has been spent cutting ribbons and applying buckles, and applying double sided tape to mounting paper. My fingers ache!

Here are the beginnings of our invitations with silver embossed lettering, ivory ribbon and diamanté buckle.

A card for Beth

It's my friend Beth's birthday in a few days so I thought I'd try out my skills and make her a card.

As before, the image is LOTV from a free stack, painted with acrylics. The papers are all from my stash.

I hope she likes it!

My Very First Card

I've been getting impatient and wanting to buy so many stamps, tools and papers! I thought I'd better prove (to myself) that I can create a card with what I already have.

The LOTV image was free with a magazine (Papercraft Inspirations?). I pained it with some acrylic paints I had, mixing the colours myself. The papers are all from my stash and the flower is freehand decoupage.

I wanted to do more with it but am worried about over doing it! I haven't added a sentiment but will probably use the card for mother's day.

I would like to enter this card in to:

My first blog hop!

I've just taken part in my first "blog hop" Took me a while to figure out what it was!

It is great to see what a vast community of card makers and artists are out there. I feel I have a lot to learn!

The blog hop can be found here at Whimsy Stamps Inspirations.

40th Birthday Cupcakes

As promised - my first attempt at blog photographs.....

I was asked to make 24 cupcakes for a 40th birthday party:

First batch was to be vanilla and "pink, girly and sparkly"
The recipe is Primrose Bakery and the decorations were made using products from Squires Kitchen

Batch 2 was to be chocolate but with no specific design request as for the vanilla.
Decorations and recipe as above

I will suss out how to rotate the pictures next time ;)

I hope you like my first creative offerings!

Newbie First Post :)

Inspired by a crafter on the MSE forums, I've decided to try my hand at card making. Though I have a fairly well stocked basic craft kit, the concept of making 'proper' cards is completely new to me and I'm really eager to get started.

I've signed up for a three month subscription to Cardmaking and Papercraft magazine, which I hope will arrive soon with 25 free Promarker pens. For now, I will have to make do with what I have around the house....

My priority project is to finish my wedding invitations (23rd June - not long to go!) and I hope to be able to post some photographs of those within the next couple of weeks.

Far more familiar to me is the art of baking and sugarcraft. I have been baking for at least 15 years and discovered sugarcraft about 2 years ago. I have a batch of chocolate cupcakes in the oven right now as part of a commission for a 40th birthday. Will post photographs as soon as possible.

In the meantime, if you'd like to take a peep at the blog of the person that's inspired me to start this, flying fresian, you can find it here

Thank you FF, and thank you all for visiting.
